Quickboost 1:72 Westland Wessex HC.2 rescue winch is a resin accessory for the Airfix kit. It replaces the simplified winch part above the side door and is the key to a faithful search and rescue (SAR) version of the helicopter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin detail by Quickboost, a brand belonging to the Czech company Aires. It is not a model or a kit: it is a separate accessory intended for the Westland Wessex HC.2 helicopter in 1:72 scale by Airfix. The set captures the rescue winch, that is, the boom with the pulley and the drum, which on rescue machines was mounted above the side door of the fuselage.
Besides transport and liaison duties, the Wessex HC.2 also served in the search and rescue role. It is precisely the winch by which a SAR machine is recognized at first glance, and at the same time it is a part that is hard to mold finely enough in injected plastic at a small scale. A resin casting handles the thin boom and the tiny mounting shapes far more accurately than a plastic part, and on a finished model it acts as a strong identifying feature of the silhouette.
For modelers who want to build a rescue version of the Wessex from the base kit, or simply to replace the simplified plastic part with a more convincing casting. Working with resin and with a very tiny, fragile part assumes a steady hand and experience; newcomers are advised to practice first on a less prominent detail.
The accessory is supplied as unpainted resin castings. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
