Color raised cockpit equipment on decal backing paper and metal harness straps for the Soviet fighter with the cut-down rear fuselage in 1:72 scale, for the Arma Hobby kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The 1942 modification cut the upper part of the rear fuselage away and replaced it with teardrop glazing. That opened up the pilot's view into the rear hemisphere, which in fights at low altitude decided more than a few extra kilometers per hour. The armament consisted of an engine-mounted cannon firing through the propeller hub and a synchronized machine gun above the engine.
The set carries layered 3D decals with embossed relief for the front panel, the cockpit side walls and the seat, printed on decal backing paper and supplemented with metal harness straps. Only the backing paper under the element is moistened, with a sponge and a drop of detergent, then the element is lifted off with tweezers and fixed with PVA glue (white glue). It has no adhesive layer of its own and the manufacturer does not recommend super glue; do not use a decal softener, as the chemicals attack the printed resin. The installation calls for no change to the structure, only for the original relief to be sanded away and the surface left clean.
Within this line for one kit manufacturer the sets differ mainly in what they cover, and this one takes in the whole cockpit: the panel, the side walls, the seat and the harness. A photo-etched set for this type adds above all exterior detail, while the narrowed photo-etched variant deals with a smaller part of the cockpit than this item.
Compared with the other ways of improving the cockpit of the same machine, this route sits in the middle: it demands less work than assembling a full photo-etched set and gives more color detail than painting by hand.
Leave the harness straps until last and bend them over the edge of your tweezers.
Before ordering, compare what the sets within the same group actually cover. The spread in extent is greater here than the differences between scales.
