Zombie Pirates 1:72, part II from the maker MARS Model: a fantasy set of plastic figures for dioramas, gaming tables and collectors.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of figures in 1:72 scale, not a kit of a ship or a vehicle. The theme is the fantasy motif of undead pirates, that is, figures in period seafaring dress with gruesome touches added. The part II designation in the title suggests that the set follows on from the first part of the range and adds further figures to it. The maker is MARS Model.
Pirates and the undead are among the most popular fantasy subjects in modeling and in tabletop games alike. The 1:72 scale is practical for figures of this kind: the figures fit on a small base, they can be combined with sailing ships and harbor dioramas, and they still keep legible detail. Unlike historical sets, here you are not bound by period accuracy, so you can work freely with color and with damage to the clothing.
First clean up the mold seams with a sharp scalpel and a fine file, then wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry. Lay down a thin primer; for fantasy subjects a light gray or white one works well, because bright colors stand out better over it. The skin of the undead is best built up from a cold base tone, brightened with a dry brush and finished with a green or violet glaze filter. Textiles are brought to life by a dark wash in the folds. Polish the metal on the weapons and buckles with a graphite pencil or a metallic paint right at the end, so that the surrounding surfaces do not get dirty.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
