A plastic kit of the historic merchant sailing ship Mayflower in 1:83 scale, released as a gift set for the 400th anniversary of the legendary voyage. The package is laid out as a complete starter set: besides the parts in gray plastic it also holds basic acrylic paints, a brush, glue, thread for the rigging and several figures of the crew.
The Mayflower was a typical three-masted merchant ship of the early 17th century. In 1620 a group of settlers crossed the Atlantic aboard her and founded one of the first lasting English colonies in North America. The ship became a symbol of the beginnings of the settlement of what later became the United States.
Assemble the hull and fill the seams, and pick the deck out with a darker wash in the recesses. Drybrushing will bring up the wood grain. Tension the rigging gradually and evenly; the build is one of the more demanding ones, so allow for patience with the yards and the masts. Put the finished model on a stand out of reach of dust.
The set holds basic paints, glue, a brush and thread; additional tools come in handy for finishing. The model is supplied unassembled.
