A resin R-3R air-to-air guided missile in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The resin print manages the thin control fins as well as the small plates at the nose, which a plastic mold cannot handle in a small scale. It is not an aircraft model but a separate store to be hung under the wing of a finished model.
The R-3 is a Soviet close-combat missile that became the standard armament of the MiG-21 and other aircraft of its day and spread across the whole Eastern Bloc. The letter R marks the version with semi-active radar homing, in which the missile follows the reflection of the signal from the carrier's onboard radar. On a model it differs from the heat-seeking version in the shape of the front end and is often confused with it.
Release the missile body from the supports on a work mat; the plates at the front are fragile. Sand the marks down with fine paper and wet sand, with respiratory protection. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting. In 1:72 scale a base shade and a thin dark line in the panel lines is enough. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
