A resin set of exhaust nozzles for the AL-31F engines in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The set is cut for the Su-27 and Su-27UB kits from the brand Great Wall Hobby, so the mating diameter and depth match that particular mold. The manufacturer also makes a second AL-31F nozzle set for kits from other brands, which is why the intended fit matters. It is not an aircraft kit but replacement parts.
The AL-31F is a turbofan engine with an afterburner that powers the heavy fighters of the Su-27 family. The exhaust nozzle has a variable cross-section and is made up of an assembly of moving petals worked by external rods. On a parked machine the nozzles stand out for two things: the deep view inside and the metal surfaces discolored by heat. That is what makes the nozzle one of the most rewarding details on the whole model.
Release the parts from the supports with a scalpel and level the mating edge on abrasive paper laid on glass. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the inside of the nozzle before you fit it into the fuselage; later you will not reach it. Build the heat discoloration up in very thin layers of transparent toning shades over a metallic base. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
