A resin set of exhaust nozzles for the RD-33 engines of a model of the MiG-29K carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. On a model the nozzle is one of the most conspicuous places: you can see into it, it is made up of dozens of thin petals and the plastic version tends to be split into halves. Printing in resin manages this structure in one piece. It is not a kit but replacement parts.
The MiG-29K is powered by a pair of turbofan engines with an afterburner from the RD-33 family, adapted for operation over the sea. A carrier machine launches from a ramp at full power, so the nozzles work in their most demanding regime more often than on land-based aircraft and the heat discoloration on them tends to be marked. For a modeler it is a detail that gives the tail end credibility.
Release the nozzles from the supports with a scalpel and level the mating edge on abrasive paper on glass. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the inside before you fit the nozzle to the fuselage. Build the heat discoloration up in very thin layers of transparent toning shades over a metallic base.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
