R-27ET guided missile in 1:32 scale from Temp Models

The set brings a 3D printed replica of the R-27ET guided missile in 1:32 scale from Temp Models. It is not a model of an aircraft but underwing armament with which you complete a finished build. The printed rendition gives the crisper edges of the stabilizing and control surfaces and finer surface detail than injection-molded plastic offers, and above all it does without a seam line across the whole body of the missile.

The real subject

The R-27ET combines the extended range of the E version with the infrared guidance of the T version. The manufacturer describes it as a medium-range missile with an increased launch range. The body is longer and bulkier than that of the basic version because of the larger motor, and the nose carries the window of the heat-seeking head. Once launched the missile holds the target on its own, so the launching aircraft can maneuver.

Building and painting tips

The parts are printed from resin and are held only by thin supports. Cut them off with a sharp scalpel as close to the part as possible, sand the marks down with fine sandpaper and protect your airways while sanding. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint holds longer on a smooth print if you lay a thin coat of primer under it. Paint the underwing weapons separately and glue them onto the model only after the landing gear and the cockpit are finished.
