R-40R guided missile, 1:48 is a 3D-printed resin replica of the heavy Soviet radar-guided air-to-air missile in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds a 3D-printed resin replica of the heavy R-40R air-to-air guided missile in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for the external stores. The print keeps the sharp edges of the large control surfaces and the detail of the seeker head, which a mold simplifies.
The R-40 is a heavy Soviet air-to-air missile, developed as the main armament of the MiG-25 interceptor. The R version has semi-active radar homing, so the on-board radar of the aircraft has to illuminate the target right up to the hit. The missiles were carried in a pair with the heat-seeking version on the wing pylons, and their dimensions were among the largest in their class. They were carried by the later MiG-31 machines as well.
Wash the 3D-printed parts in warm soapy water first, to get rid of any print resin residue. Cut the print supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as you can and sand the marks away with respiratory protection. Resin does not bond with polystyrene cement, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold well on the smooth print. Assemble and paint the armament separately and glue it to the pylon only once the varnish has dried, so that the fine surfaces do not get rubbed.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
