A resin Kh-31PD anti-radiation missile in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The resin print manages the intricate air intakes on the body as well as the thin control fins that a plastic mold cannot handle in a small scale. It is not an aircraft model but a separate store to be hung under a finished model.
The Kh-31 is a Russian supersonic missile that differs from ordinary ordnance in its propulsion: once a booster stage has accelerated it, a ramjet with several air intakes around the body lights up. Those intakes are exactly what gives the missile its unmistakable shape. The version with the letter P is meant against ground radars and finds its target from the radar's own transmission, while the added D marks the version with extended reach.
Release the missile body from the supports on a flat work mat. Sand the marks down with fine paper and wet sand, with respiratory protection. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Clean out the air intakes on the body and darken their insides, because they are the most noticeable feature on the model. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
