ICE SPARKLES

Ice Sparkles (AK interactive)

Ice Sparkles is a diorama accessory from the range of winter textures and effects. Its purpose is to stop ice, frost and packed snow on a scene looking like a matte white area and make them catch the light instead. It is not a paint or a kit - it is a material for the final stage of work on terrain, when the shape is already done and the impression is being fine-tuned.

Use

• Put it on at the very end, when the base of ice or snow is finished and dry; the sparkle should be the last thing added to the scene.
• Apply it in spots and sparingly - a continuous coating looks artificial, whereas irregular clusters on edges and crests look convincing.
• The logical places are the edges of a frozen puddle, cracks in the ice, deposits on fenders and road edges, a gutter and branches.
• The effect comes into its own combined with a glossy layer of water or varnish that imitates the wet surface of melting ice.
• Under a sharp spotlight in a display case the sparkle reads more strongly than in diffuse daylight - keep that in mind when dosing it.

Who it is for

For builders of winter dioramas, Eastern Front scenes, mountain and Nordic settings and fantasy scenery, where old trodden snow has to be set apart from fresh sparkling frost. Figure modelers who make small bases and need the effect at miniature scale will appreciate it too.

Do not inhale loose and fine materials and work in a well-ventilated room.
