Light brown shades with a sandy cast covered the vehicles and aircraft deployed in North Africa, in the Middle East and in other dry regions. The tone is muted, with no marked saturation, so on a model it already looks dusty by itself. That is exactly its advantage: you do not have to mix the base for a desert scheme laboriously.
The carrier of the pigment is a synthetic lacquer, which rules out any water-based thinner. It can be thinned only with the brand's own product, and quite happily with twice its volume. The bottle holds ten milliliters and the cured coat is firm and even.
With desert subjects it holds true that paint faded by the sun looks more convincing than a fresh coat. The difference between the upper and lower surfaces tends to be marked, because the sun worked only from above.
Desert vehicles got dirty faster than any others, because fine sand got everywhere. Even so, it holds true that exaggerated dusting swallows the shade completely and the result then looks uniformly gray.
