The darker of the pair of Soviet green tones from Gunze, Mr. Color Russian green (2), is aimed at the armor of the Eastern Front and of the postwar armies. The package holds 10 ml.

The green finish of Soviet equipment was never uniform. Vehicles from different factories and different war years differed in tone and in sheen, and that is why the brand offers a pair of shades: the lighter number one and this darker number two. Anyone building a T-34, self-propelled guns or postwar machines usually reaches for both and lets them alternate in a column, or uses them to tell a newly delivered vehicle from a worn veteran.
The dried film is smooth and thin enough not to cover the engraving or the cast texture of the armor. It takes everything that follows the base coat well: filters, oil stains, washes and dry pastel. The package holds ten milliliters.
The paint is applied with a gun, not a brush. Thin it with the product of the same brand; on large areas the Leveling version helps, after which the coat flows into a continuous surface better. Choose the ratio according to the consistency within the range the supplier gives. Stir the bottle every time, otherwise every coat will come out differently saturated.
Soviet green looks credible when you play with it. Lighten the middle of large areas slightly and, conversely, pull the recesses and lower parts over with a darker tone. The transitions come out smoothly if you thin the paint more than usual and lay it down in several light coats. Sharp lines do harm here, as the real finish breaks nowhere.
For building Soviet equipment, besides green, modelers usually reach for white for winter finishes, a metallic tone for the contact faces of the tracks and brown shades for deposits of earth. Turret interiors tended to be light, so a separate light tone suits them, not the lightened green from the outer armor.
