This shade comes from the lowest numbers of the line, that is from the original basic palette that the manufacturer built around clean, saturated colors. It is not a grayed sky and not a faded fuselage underside. It is a bright, markedly blue color with a gloss finish that keeps its saturation and depth once dry.
Most often it appears where a color is meant to catch the eye. On the machines of aerobatic teams, on training aircraft, on stripes and numbers, on the bodies of car models and on the small accessories of dioramas. The gloss surface is at the same time an ideal base under decals, because no silvery veil is left beneath them.
Saturated blue pigments are among those that cover slowly. Over a light base the result will be more even and the color will keep its brightness. Apply three thin passes rather than one generous one, because a running coat would form darker edges in the engraving. Stir the contents properly before loading and thin with a lacquer thinner of the same line.
The manufacturer's line holds several blue tones with similar names. This one belongs to the group of saturated, glossy and fairly darker blues of the basic palette, while later shades with high numbers tend to be paler and aim at derivatives of aviation standards. When choosing, go by a photograph of the color reference and by the subject you are building, because the name alone does not capture the difference here. The shade combines excellently with white to create a transition on the areas of a wing and with black to accent the shadows along the rivets. Once dry it holds a firm film that takes an oil wash and a final clear coat.
