A matte clear coat in a spray can with a volume of 86 ml. It unifies the sheen of a finished model and suppresses decal edges that show through. The water-based acrylic formula is gentle to the base.

A matte overcoat rids a model of the uneven reflections that arise where paints with different levels of sheen meet on one fuselage. At the same time it hides the edges of decal carrier film, which on a smooth base show through as a light rectangle around every marking. You reach for it at the moment the paints and decals are dry and the model is waiting for weathering with washes or pigments.
The binder is built on an acrylic dissolved in water, which means far gentler behavior toward whatever lies underneath. Nitrocellulose clear coats can lift a thin layer of the base or eat into a decal; here that risk drops markedly. The coat stays thin and does not clog fine engraving or riveting.
In damp weather the surface can turn white, because atmospheric moisture is trapped in the coat. Working in a dry room and warming the can in warm water will help. The degree of matting also changes with the thickness of the coat, so try the depth on a sprue offcut first. When the work is finished, turn the can upside down and press the valve briefly until only clear gas comes out — the nozzle then stays clear.
