A scenic accessory for a diorama: the field poppy in 1:35 scale, an element of low vegetation with a striking red flower.
Responsibility details are not available.
The field poppy is one of those plants that appear wherever the ground has been disturbed. It colonizes the edge of a field, a roadside, a heap of dug-out soil and overgrown waste ground, which is why it sits so well in scenes with military vehicles, trenches and churned-up country. In subjects from the First World War it carries a symbolic weight that the viewer recognizes as well. The real plant grows to about half a meter, so in 1:35 scale it is an element about 1.5 cm tall.
In 1:35 every flower is clearly visible, so it can be worked with individually. The plants do not have to be scattered in clumps only: one can be left growing from a crack by a vehicle track, another from a trampled spot at the feet of a figure and a third at the foot of a wall where nobody treads. It is exactly this considered irregularity that sets a diorama apart from a green carpet with dots.
Stick to the rule that the poppy grows in broken islands. More densely along edges and in disturbed soil, more sparsely in the middle of a trampled area, and not at all where traffic would crush it. Set them in with tweezers into finished terrain, once the scatter material is down and the paints are dry. A drop of glue applied with a toothpick will hold them, or set them into terrain material that is still soft; the instructions from the manufacturer give the recommended procedure. Sink the plant in so that the stem comes out of the ground rather than lying on the surface.
The package contains scenic material in the scale given. A diorama base, terrain materials, scatter material, figures, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
