A finished metal model of the T-55 tank in the markings of the Soviet Army in Prague in 1968, 1:72 scale. Supplied assembled and painted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The T-55 was a Soviet medium tank of the postwar generation, which grew out of the design of the T-54 and became the most widespread tank of the Cold War. You will know it by its very low silhouette, its cast rounded turret and its 100 mm gun. On each side it runs on five road wheels with a conspicuous gap between the first and the second, and with no return rollers. It was also built under license, among other places in Czechoslovakia and in Poland.
The model represents a vehicle of the Soviet Army in Prague in August 1968. The equipment that entered Czechoslovakia at that time was given conspicuous white identification stripes: a number of the armies involved used the same types of vehicle as the Czechoslovak People's Army, and the stripes were meant to tell them apart at first glance. For a collector in the Czech Republic this is therefore a piece with a very specific local context.
This is a finished collector's model, not a kit. It leaves the factory assembled, painted and carrying printed markings, so once unpacked it goes straight into the cabinet. The metal construction gives it a noticeable weight, which is what sets finished models apart from plastic kits.
The model is supplied finished and is not meant for any further assembly. A display case, a display base, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
