Kabuki masks JAS-39D Gripen Advanced 1:48 (New Ware)

The Advanced masking set for the JAS-39D Gripen in 1:48 scale from the Czech brand New Ware. It is not a kit but a set of precisely cut masks in kabuki paper tape that makes it easier to paint the cockpit frames and the other transparent parts of the two-seat Gripen sharply and cleanly. The name assigns it to the Italeri 2664 and Mistercraft G200 kits. The Advanced type is the richer variant: besides the outer canopy masks it usually contains masks for the inside of the cockpit, further clear parts and masks for the wheel discs.

Usage tips

Carefully transfer the masks onto clean transparent parts, press the edges down thoroughly and fill the gaps between the frames with liquid mask or strips of tape. Apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats so that it does not creep under the edge. Take the mask off promptly and gently once the paint has dried.
