A mask set for the Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIa aircraft model in 1:32 scale. It makes spraying the canopy framing and other areas easier.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hurricane was the workhorse of Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain: more of these aircraft were built than Spitfires, and they also scored more kills. Its fuselage was welded from steel tubing and covered with fabric at the rear, so after a hit a patch was often all it took for the aircraft to return to the air. The Mk.II version received a more powerful V12 Merlin engine, giving it better performance at altitude; the Mk.IIa variant, meanwhile, still retained its armament of eight wing-mounted machine guns.
The canopy framing is the first thing anyone notices on a model, and this is doubly true in 1:32 scale: the areas are large, and every uneven edge shows. A mask cuts this job down from hours to minutes, and the transition between the clear part and the paint stays sharp.
Apply the masks to a clean, degreased clear part before spraying. Press the edges down carefully with a toothpick or the blunt tip of tweezers, since paint will seep in exactly where the mask hasn't seated properly. Spray thin coats, since a single heavy coat builds up under the edge and leaves a step once removed. Remove the mask as soon as the paint has flashed off; once fully cured, it comes off harder and risks lifting some of the finish. The masks are always cut for a specific kit, and the particular one is not stated here — the included instructions name it.
For modelers building the Hurricane in a large scale who want clean framing without tedious tape-cutting. The kit and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
