Quickboost 1:35 UH-1B Huey — wipers (for Trumpeter kits)

A set of replacement windshield wipers for the cockpit, in cast resin, for the plastic kit of the UH-1B Huey helicopter in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. Quickboost is the accessory range of the Czech manufacturer Aires, which concentrates on small upgrade parts with a fast and visible effect. It is not a model of the helicopter — the kit is not included in the package. You are buying only the replacement parts to fit to your own model.

Use

• It replaces the wipers from the original kit with thin, sharply cast resin parts
• Injection-molded plastic has to be thicker because of the mold and of strength — a plastic wiper therefore looks oversized; resin manages the real slenderness of the arm and the blade
• The detail is visible on the model immediately: the wipers lie directly on the canopy glazing, that is, in the most exposed place
• Fitting: cut the casting blocks off, sand the mating surfaces, dry fit, bond with super glue

The real subject

The Bell UH-1 Huey is one of the best known helicopters in history and a symbol of the Vietnam War. The UH-1B version was an early production development with a more powerful engine and wider use — it served to carry troops, to evacuate the wounded and as an armed gunship variant with machine guns and rocket launchers. The characteristic glazed nose of the cockpit gives the wipers great visual weight on a model.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build the large Huey in 1:35 scale and want to rid the cockpit of coarse plastic detail. Working with resin takes a little practice, but on such a small part even a careful beginner will manage it. The set combines well with other accessories for the cockpit and the interior.

Before gluing, wash the parts in warm water with detergent (mold release residue prevents the paint from adhering). Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a scalpel rather than breaking them. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection — the fine dust is harmful to health. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate); cement for plastic does not work on resin. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package.
