The light M8 armored car with three axles served the American army for reconnaissance, while the turretless M20 version served for liaison and for carrying crews. As soon as the vehicles got into snow or onto churned-up roads, the crews fitted chains to the wheels so that the vehicle would grip at all. A vehicle with chains therefore looks different from one on a summer campaign and tells by itself what season the scene stands in.
Six wheels with chains in 1:35 scale, that is the full number for one vehicle. The chains are made directly on the wheels, so you do not have to assemble them from small parts or laboriously bend them from wire or weave them from a fine chain.
The parts are not polystyrene and cement for plastic has no effect on them; use super glue and degrease the bonded surfaces beforehand. After a primer, spray the wheels in the base color of the vehicle and then pick the chains out dry in a dark metallic shade. Put the muddy deposits mainly between the links of the chain and around the hub, and leave the metal showing on the tops of the links, because that is exactly where they rub against the ground.
