A resin set of plugs and chocks for a MiG-29 model in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. This is the equipment that the ground crew fit to a parked aircraft: the group of parts covers the openings on the airframe and the chocks that keep the machine from moving on the flight line. The set is printed in resin. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for a model on the flight line.
A parked aircraft is never left entirely bare. The air intakes, the nozzles and other openings are covered, so that water, dust or birds do not get in, and the wheels are secured, so that the machine does not roll away. On the MiG-29 this equipment is especially conspicuous, because it has large rectangular air intakes under the fuselage and massive nozzles. On a model the set is therefore rewarding: it gives a finished machine a context and makes it clear that this is a scene from an airfield, not an aircraft in the air.
Release the parts from the supports with a new blade and over a working surface. Sand the mating faces, so that a plug sits tightly and no gap is left around it. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. The covers tend to be brightly colored, often red with lettering, so they bring a welcome touch of color to a finished model.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
