True Metallic Metal LiGHT - Radiant Yellow

Radiant Yellow is an acrylic shade from the Vallejo True Metallic Metal range. That range builds on an approach in which metal on a figure is painted with genuine metallic paints, not merely imitated with light and dark matte tones. A radiant yellow comes into play wherever metal should look warm and costly: on gilded ornaments, on fittings and clasps, on the trim of armor and shields, on grips and hilts and on the small fittings of thrones and altars.

What the LIGHT designation means

The shades in the range are kept in two positions. LIGHT is the lighter variant intended for lit areas, edges and highlights, whereas the SHADE variant aims at recesses and surfaces turned away from the light. When you use both, a metal surface gains depth and stops looking like a uniform patch of color. Work with the LIGHT shade on its own as light: apply it to the places a light source would fall on and leave a darker base underneath.

Application tips

Shake the bottle thoroughly before work, metallic pigment settles at the bottom faster than ordinary colorant. Prepare the surface smooth and even, because a metallic finish emphasizes every groove and every grain. Apply thin layers and let them dry; dragging the brush over paint that has started to set leaves streaks. Check the recommended thinning for spraying in the manufacturer's instructions. Count on a matte varnish dulling the metallic effect.
