Violet Red

Violet Red - a Vallejo Model Color acrylic paint

A rich violet red shade from the Model Color range of the Spanish maker Acrylicos Vallejo. This water-thinnable acrylic in a 17 ml dropper bottle has a high pigment content, dries to a matte finish and is a favorite in the kit of figure painters.

Use

• For a brush the paint is ready straight from the bottle - it covers well even in thin coats.
• For an airbrush it has to be thinned with water or with Vallejo thinner to roughly the consistency of milk; unthinned, the thick paint would clog the nozzle.
• The dropper allows precise dosing when mixing shades - darkening it gives deep shadows on red areas.
• Once dry it can be overpainted with further acrylics and takes fine washes and weathering.
• Brushes only need washing in water with detergent after the work.

Who it is for

The shade will be appreciated above all by figure painters - it suits robes, banners, flowers on dioramas and striking accessories on fantasy and historical miniatures alike. It also comes into its own on civilian vehicles, advertising features on buildings and anywhere you need a striking purplish red with a matte finish.

A water-based acrylic paint with no aggressive solvents. Even so, work in a well-ventilated room and let the finish dry through properly before the next steps.
