Tufts of drying grass 6 millimeters high, thirty-five pieces in number.

A meadow never has a single color. At the turn of summer dead stems mix into the green and the whole growth shifts toward a faded, slightly yellowish tone. This shade captures precisely the moment when the grass is still alive but is no longer fresh, which for a model scene is often more interesting than a rich spring green.
The package contains thirty-five pieces 6 millimeters high. This length is among the most versatile of all: for vehicles in 1:35 it works out at roughly twenty centimeters of real grass, while on smaller reductions it suddenly becomes tall weeds at the edge of a road.
A convincing area never comes from a single kind. It pays to mix this faded tone with a richer green into irregular clusters, to leave bare places between them and to add dust or grit along the edges of paths. A tuft is lifted off the film and pressed into place; on a rough base it is safer to back it with a drop of glue. Before the glue dries, the stems can still be bent with the fingers into the direction in which the wind blew in the scene. The same method indicates the place where a vehicle drove through or where someone walked.
