XHUG01 Aqueous Gundam Aerial Blue

A shade mixed to the reference

A ready-made blue from the Aqueous range, which the manufacturer mixes directly to the colors of the Gundam kits. The Aerial Blue designation belongs to the blue areas of the Aerial machine, so the most tiresome part of the work falls away: hitting the shade by mixing it yourself and then, once it runs out, mixing it again, never quite the same. It can be used anywhere else a deep blue suits, from an aircraft to a figure.

Properties and thinning

The paint is a water-thinnable acrylic and comes ready to work with from the bottle. Stir it properly before every use, because the pigment sinks to the bottom when it stands and an unstirred paint changes both the shade and the degree of sheen. It is applied with a brush and with an airbrush; for spraying, thin it with the thinner of the same range according to the manufacturer's instructions, because a thinner for another type of paint can curdle the coat. Wash and degrease the plastic before painting.

Painting tips

• Several thin coats instead of one heavy one, otherwise the engraved detail disappears
• Let the surface dry properly between coats
• Paint the parts of one shade in a single session so that the tone matches
• Over a light base a deep blue covers sooner than straight over dark plastic
• Clean the brushes and the gun at once, while the paint is fresh
