DSPIAE FB-20 - tungsten drill with a flat face, 2.0 mm

A precision DSPIAE drill in tungsten material with a flat face, 2.0 mm in diameter. While an ordinary twist drill leaves a cone at the bottom of a hole, this tool creates a flat bottom. A diameter of two millimeters is a universal medium size: it suits the muzzles of barrels and exhausts in larger scales, recesses for lights and lenses, the preparation of seats for pins, wire and magnets, and the leveling of circular hollows left after a casting gate has been drilled out.

Use

• Always mark the center of the hole first by punching it, as otherwise the tool will run off on a smooth surface.
• Drill square, along the axis of the tool and without side pressure - tungsten is hard but brittle and takes no levering.
• In a motor tool choose low speed; heated plastic smears along the edge and the hole stops being clean.
• When drilling deeper, withdraw the tool from time to time and clear it of chips.
• If you want to widen an existing hole, guide the drill carefully - a flat face tends to wander in a hole that is already there.

Maintenance and storage

Wipe the tool after use and store it so that the face does not knock against other tools. A damaged or chipped edge will no longer make a flat bottom and will leave marks in the hole. In plastic it lasts a very long time, while with resin and cured print expect faster wear.

Check the shank diameter and compatibility with your holder on the packaging. Use eye protection when drilling and do not breathe in the dust produced.
