This is a complete detail set from the Polish maker Aber, not a model of the vehicle. The package combines fine photo-etched frets with turned metal parts and wire sections for a model of the German heavy tank destroyer Sd.Kfz. 184 Elefant. With the metal you will replace the engine deck grilles, the fenders, the tool brackets, the protective plates and further small equipment that injected plastic cannot give in a thickness true to scale.
The Elefant was a German heavy tank destroyer of the Second World War with an 88 mm gun with a long barrel, mounted in a fixed armored casemate. It came about by reworking the Ferdinand vehicles after their use at Kursk: it received a machine gun port in the front of the hull, a commander cupola and further changes based on combat experience. The combination of electric transmission of the power and very heavy armor made it an exceptionally heavy and slow but very effective machine in terms of firepower, used among other places in Italy.
Cut the photo-etched parts off directly from the fret with a sharp knife, bend them on a photo-etch bending tool and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a primer. On a vehicle with armor as massive as this, pigment and wash weathering on the welds and in the hollows stands out.
An accessory for a plastic kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
