A flexible stencil with a 7 mm checkerboard pattern

A universal Green Stuff World masking stencil with a regular checkerboard with a square size of 7 mm. It is not a part of a model but an aid for painting. The pattern is cut into thin flexible plastic, so the stencil sits even on a curved surface and leaves sharp edges behind it.

The checkerboard is a classic modeling motif

The checkered pattern appears on the engine cowlings and vertical tails of aircraft, on racing cars, on wargaming banners and on the decoration of figures. Measuring it out by hand is laborious and irregularity shows at first glance, which is why the stencil pays off. A square size of 7 mm is easy to read on medium and larger areas.

Use

• Spray the lighter base shade on first and let it cure completely.
• Lay the stencil on so that the rows follow the edge of the part, and press it down over its whole area.
• On curves, fix the stencil with masking tape around its perimeter and cut it into a segment if need be.
• Spray the darker shade perpendicularly and in thin coats, because otherwise it runs under the edge of a square.
• Take the stencil off while the paint is still damp and clean it immediately.
