A set of fourteen mounted figures of the Austrian army of the Napoleonic Wars in 28 mm size, for the period from 1798 to 1815.
Responsibility details are not available.
Austrian cavalry was among the most numerous in Europe during the Napoleonic Wars and was divided into heavy and light. The heavy arm consisted of cuirassiers and dragoons in white coats, the light of chevauxlegers, hussars and uhlans. From 1798 a conspicuous helmet with a black caterpillar crest appeared with part of the cavalry, and it is by this that an Austrian trooper is recognized at first glance. Austrian cuirassiers, moreover, wore only the front plate of the cuirass, not the whole of it.
The set contains fourteen mounted figures in 28 mm size for the period from 1798 to 1815. The range covers the whole span of Austrian participation in the Coalition Wars, from the campaigns of the late eighteenth century to the year 1815.
With mounted figures it pays to begin with the places that are harder to reach, that is, the chest and belly of the horse, the saddle and the rider's legs, and only then to move on to the upper surfaces. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little distance from the figure and sand down the marks left by manufacture. Wash and degrease the figures before painting. White coats benefit from a light gray base and gradual lightening, so that the paneling stays visible; a dark glaze brings out the leather of the harness. The recommended glue and the assembly sequence are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The set is intended for players of historical tabletop games and for builders of scenes from the Napoleonic Wars who are putting together the Austrian side. Fourteen troopers are enough for two smaller cavalry units or for one stronger one.
Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
