DSPIAE FS-1200 Flexible Sanding Board, 1200 grit

A flexible sanding board from the brand DSPIAE in 1200 grit. It is neither a kit nor a part for a model, but a modeling tool for preparing a surface. The flexible backing adapts to the shape of a part, so the abrasive works on curved faces and in transitions as well, where a rigid sanding file leaves flat marks and rounds off edges.

What 1200 grit means

The number gives the coarseness of the abrasive. 1200 grit is fine: it practically no longer takes material off, but it smooths away the marks of coarser sanding and unifies the surface. It therefore belongs at the end of a sanding sequence, not at its beginning. After it comes only degreasing, filler primer or paint.

• smoothing a surface after sanding with coarser grits
• sanding filler primer or a base coat down before painting
• finely leveling the transition between filler and plastic
• gently removing small unevenness without touching engraved lines

Who the board is for

For modelers for whom one universal sheet of abrasive paper is not enough and who want their sequence divided up by grit. A fine board suits the building of aircraft, cars and motorcycles, where a smooth surface under gloss paint shows at first glance, and also the finishing of resin parts.

Sanding produces a fine dust that must not be breathed in, so work in a well ventilated room. Free the surface carefully of dust before painting, as otherwise it will show under the paint.
