A kit of the Unicorn Gundam robot suit in the Full Armor form, that is with its complete add-on armor and weapon fit, in the variant designated Ver. Ka. The maker is Bandai of Japan, which builds its Gundam kits as snap-fit - the parts clip into one another and are molded directly in color, so the model can usually be built without glue and without painting. The particular grade of the range, the scale and the contents of the package are stated on the box of the product. The Ver. Ka designation traditionally belongs to the variants with a more detailed surface finish and richer markings.
The Unicorn Gundam is among the best-known designs of the whole brand. Its characteristic feature is the change between a mode with a simple unicorn silhouette and a combat mode, where the armor opens out and reveals the glowing structure within. The Full Armor variant adds a layer of add-on armor, racks and weapons to that basic form, which makes the silhouette markedly bulkier and more broken up than the base version. It is precisely the number of add-on items that makes this subject one of the most demanding and at the same time most striking items in the whole range.
Nip the parts off with cutters away from the edge itself and clean up the remains of the gate with a scalpel; on plastic molded in color that is gentler than sanding. On a broken-up model with a great many add-on parts it pays to build in subassemblies and keep checking whether the joint will bear the weight of the armament. If you are going to paint it, start with a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth plastic. Bring out the panel lines with a paneliner, which runs into the engraving by itself, and wipe the excess away. Apply the stickers or decals at the very end, once any clear coat has dried.
The model is supplied unassembled. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
