Gundam Blue

Gundam Blue - oil paint (Abteilung 502)

A blue shade from the range of artists' oil paints by Abteilung 502 made specifically for modelers. It is not an opaque paint for the base coat, but an oil for weathering and color effects: washes, filters, unifying and knocking back the base tone, mixing shades and highlighting. Finely ground pigments and an oil binder stay workable for a long time, so they can be spread and blended softly right on the model. The deep blue suits science fiction and fantasy subjects as well as toning other blue surfaces.

Use

• The paint is thinned with mineral spirits or turpentine, not with water or with lacquer (nitro) thinner.
• Spread a small amount from the tube and thin it into a wash or a filter; take the excess off with a brush or a cloth.
• Apply it over a dry, ideally matte lacquer base, which takes the oil better.
• The long working time allows soft transitions and the gradual layering of an effect.
• Stir the contents of the tube before use, as the oil may separate at the surface.

Who it is for

For modelers and figure painters who weather with oil paints and want a blue tone for effects, filters and mixing. Suitable for science fiction and fantasy subjects as well as for conventional vehicles.

An oil paint thinnable with mineral spirits or turpentine - it contains solvents, so use it in a ventilated area and out of the reach of children. Keep the tube tightly closed.
