A publication in the Warpaint series devoted to the British Hawker Sea Hawk carrier-borne jet fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Sea Hawk was a British single-seat carrier fighter of the first postwar generation of jet machines. It grew out of a postwar project by Hawker and differed from its contemporaries in the layout of its powerplant: its single turbojet had the jet pipe split into two nozzles that exhausted at the wing roots, so there was room for fuel behind the engine and the fuselage stayed short and clean. The wing was straight and folded for the hangars of aircraft carriers, and the armament consisted of four 20 mm cannons in the nose.
The machine reached British naval aviation in the first half of the 1950s and was used, among other things, in the Suez operation of 1956, where it flew mainly against ground targets. In the fighter role it was replaced at home fairly quickly by faster types, but abroad it served for a long time: besides the Netherlands and West Germany it was operated by the Indian Navy, with which it stayed in the front line for a number of years after it had finished flying in Britain.
For modelers preparing to build the Sea Hawk and looking for visual and textual support, and for readers interested in the first generation of British carrier jets. Check the extent, the language and the exact contents of the volume with the publisher. A model, paints and decals are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
