Hold It Easy — an aid for holding parts

A practical addition to a modeling workplace from the Domino brand. It serves to let a part hold itself during work so that the modeler keeps both hands free — whether for gluing, cleaning up, or spraying and drying. The exact form, the number and type of holders, the material and the dimensions are stated on the packaging of the aid.

Use

• Holding small parts during gluing so that they do not have to be held between the fingers
• Holding a part during sanding and cleaning up parting lines
• Fixing a part during spraying and the drying that follows, so that it does not touch the surface
• Setting part-finished pieces aside away from the working area, where they get lost
• Working with small parts that risk being lost if they are dropped

Why a holder is worth having

The most frequent damage to a part-finished model does not happen during the build but when it is set down. A freshly sprayed part laid on a surface takes an imprint of the texture of the paper, a part held between the fingers picks up grease, and a glued joint comes apart from a movement before the glue has taken hold. A holder deals with all three situations at once: the part stays in the air, in a stable position and at an angle at which you can both see it and work on it. A side benefit is order on the bench, because part-finished pieces no longer lie loose among the tools.

Who the aid is for

For anyone who builds models regularly and runs into the classic problem — a part is too small to be held and too freshly glued to be laid down. It will be appreciated mainly by modelers who paint figures or work with photo-etched or small resin parts.

It is not a model or a kit, but a workshop aid. Paints, glues and other materials are not included in the package.
