Hot Wire Foam Cutter 230 V, a cutter for foam (Woodland Scenics)

A hot wire cutter for foam for shaping the terrain of layouts and dioramas, supplied in the European version for 230 V. The glowing nichrome wire passes through foam practically without resistance, so it leaves behind no crumbling, no dust and no beads flying about the whole workshop. The cutter heats up practically at once and the cut is smooth, so a finished surface can be glued and covered with plaster cloth straight away.

What you will manage with it

• The main cutting arm manages a cut approximately 11.4 cm wide and 15.2 cm deep according to the manufacturer.
• The straight attachment cuts a path about 8.9 cm wide at the same depth and suits cramped places and the quick dividing of boards.
• The arm can be tilted, so sloping hillsides, embankments, cuttings and the channels of watercourses arise.
• The wire used is a consumable part, and the special nichrome wire of the same maker serves for replacing it.

Who it is for

For layout modelers and builders of larger dioramas who build terrain from foam boards and do not want to cut it laboriously with a knife. It will be appreciated by makers of exhibition modules too, where the same profiles have to be cut out again and again and accurately.

The manufacturer advises cutting only the white foam intended for modeling terrain, as other foams may release fumes harmful to health when heated. Always ventilate well, work away from flammables and do not leave a heated cutter unattended. Not suitable for children without the supervision of an adult.
