An injection-molded plastic kit of the Dragonfly aircraft, which appeared in the classic American animated series Jonny Quest. The manufacturer Moebius Models prepared a completely new mold and the finished model reaches a length of around thirty centimeters, so this is a striking piece for a display case. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Dragonfly is a fictional aircraft, so it represents no real machine. Its appearance grows out of the ideas about supersonic technology of the sixties: a slender fuselage, pronounced swept wings and futuristic shapes, which in the series underlined the adventurous atmosphere of expeditions into unknown parts. That is exactly why the model will appeal mainly to collectors of fantastic and television equipment, who combine machines from film and television with real subjects in a display case.
Because this is an invented machine, you do not have to worry about period accuracy of the shades and your hands are free. Most modelers keep to the appearance from the series, that is a uniform gloss finish, which however mercilessly reveals every imperfection of the surface. So putty the joints of the fuselage carefully and sand them down with fine paper, and polish the surface before spraying. Apply gloss paints in thin layers from an airbrush, and at the end a gloss clear coat and fine polishing can be added. Mask the clear parts while the spraying goes on and fit them only at the end. A large model pays to be set on a solid base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
