Light Soil – an enamel-based liquid pigment from AK interactive

A light soil shade from the pigment range in which AK interactive supplies the colored powder already dispersed in an enamel medium. The result behaves like a liquid effect: you place it with a brush exactly where it belongs, and once the carrier has evaporated a deeply matte, earthy trace resembling real soil stays on the surface.

Typical uses

• Dusty running gear and wheels of vehicles after a move along a dirt road.
• Deposits of light soil around the wheel arches, on the sides of the body and at the rear of vehicles.
• Bringing the terrain of a diorama to life – wheel ruts, road shoulders, the ground around trenches.
• An earthy veil on the boots and coats of figures in any scale.

How to work with it

Shake and stir the bottle thoroughly before every use. Apply the effect in thin layers; while it is fresh it can be blended and pulled back with a brush and enamel thinner, so you keep full control over the intensity. The product is not water-based – do not thin it with water and do not clean your tools with water afterward. When working with solvents, always make sure fresh air is coming in.

Tuning the shade

Light soil corresponds more to a dry dusty road than to freshly plowed topsoil. If you want a transition between the two, lay the light tone over the whole area first and stipple a darker earthy shade from the same range into the wet surface. Once dry, the edges can be blended out with a dry brush and left to show only in the recesses.
