About product

Green Stuff World Liquid Pigments - OCHRE EARTH

A liquid pigment from the Liquid Pigments line. It is neither a paint nor a wash in the usual sense: the pigment is mixed into a liquid carrier, so it can be applied with a brush exactly where it belongs, and once the carrier has dried a dry matte pigment layer remains on the surface. Compared with loose pigment the work is cleaner and easier to dose; compared with a wash the result stays dusty and matte rather than glossy. The OCHRE EARTH shade matches light ocher soil, so it suits dry, parched terrain, dusty tracks and the wheel wells of vehicles from southern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

Use

  • Shake the bottle thoroughly before every use; the pigment settles to the bottom and without mixing you will apply only the carrier.
  • Apply onto a matte surface. On gloss varnish the pigment does not hold and runs off.
  • Work in layers and let each one dry; one heavy layer looks like a deposit, three thin ones look like dust.
  • Ocher looks most natural in recesses, along lower edges, on the chassis and in places where dust would really gather.
  • Once it has dried, pick the surplus up with a dry flat brush or a cotton bud.
  • Seal the result with a pigment fixer or a matte varnish, otherwise it can be wiped off with a finger.

Who the pigment is for

For modelers of military vehicles and aircraft who do dusty weathering, and for diorama builders who need to tie a model in with its base. The ocher shade is the basic tone of most dry terrain, so it also works as a ground for darker soils and muds. It can be used on figures and on tabletop gaming terrain as well.

Keep out of the reach of children, do not swallow and ventilate while working. The volume of the package, the composition and the safety instructions follow the label from the manufacturer.

FAQ

Neither. It is pigment mixed into a liquid carrier. Once the carrier has dried a dry matte pigment layer remains, not a color film.

Most often because there is gloss varnish underneath it. Pigments are applied onto a matte surface. Sealing with a matte varnish or a fixer also helps.

Follow the figure on the label from the manufacturer.

As long as it is not sealed, yes: you can pick the surplus up with a dry brush or a cotton bud. Once it is sealed with a matte varnish the layer is permanent.
