An oil paint in the deep purple Magenta shade. Its strong tinting power makes it above all a paint for mixing and toning.
Responsibility details are not available.
An oil paint in a deep purple, that is, a red shifted toward violet. On a model you will rarely use it on its own over a large area; its strength lies in what it does to other shades. A drop in a brown pulls the warmth toward red, a drop in a blue shifts the tone toward violet, and a drop in a shadow suppresses the dull gray that arises when shadows are mixed with black alone.
Purple makes sense on figures, where it serves for cloth, banners and facings, and in colored shadows on deeply red surfaces. It also finds work as a toning admixture when putting your own shades together and on small color details where an area is meant to be deep and clean. Apply it in small amounts and keep checking what the paint is doing to the surface beneath; a deep purple is strong in tinting and easily overpowers whatever you mix it into.
Coat the surface with a clear coat, preferably gloss or satin, so that the excess can be wiped off cleanly. Let a drop rest on cardboard so that the paper draws off some of the binder. It is thinned with mineral spirits or with an odorless thinner and spread with a soft brush or a cotton bud. Slow drying allows a layer to be worked for a long time, but wait with further clear coating until the surface has dried.
For figure modelers and for anyone who mixes their own shades and needs a clean, deep color for it. Thinner, brushes and clear coat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
