A set of photo-etched parts for a model of the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II ground-attack aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A-10 Thunderbolt II is an American ground-attack aircraft built literally around a seven-barrel 30 mm cannon. It has a straight wing, a pair of turbofan engines mounted high on the sides of the rear fuselage and twin vertical tails. The pilot sits in a tub of armor plates, because the machine is intended to work low over the battlefield.
The set brings photo-etched parts for a model of the A-10 in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch gives the correct thickness where a plastic part inevitably comes out too thick, and adds the fine surface detail that a mold cannot capture. The extent of the set and the assignment of the parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts on a hard surface with a sharp blade, as twisting deforms the photo-etch. Make the bends along the marked groove, ideally in a bender or between two blades. Use super glue for gluing, in a genuinely small amount, as an excess floods the relief. Degrease the metal before painting and apply a base coat suitable for metal, otherwise the finish will flake off during handling.
The set suits modelers who want to lift the level of detail on the A-10 beyond what the kit offers. Working with photo-etch calls for tweezers, a sharp blade and a steady hand.
The package holds photo-etched parts only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
