STEAMPUNK COPPER is a copper shade from the metallic line of Green Stuff World. While an opaque paint creates an even area of one value on a model, a metallic paint lays down a layer of fine reflective particles. They do not absorb light but return it, and that is why an area appears a little different every time according to where you shine light on it from. A dry coat looks different from a freshly applied one, so judge the result only after drying.

The base decides the result

Copper stands out on a flat and uniform surface, where the reflection stays continuous. On a rough or uneven surface the light scatters and the metal loses its sparkle. A darker surface gives the shade depth, a lighter one lightens and flattens it. The reflective filler sinks to the bottom of the bottle, so stir it thoroughly before every use and between coats, otherwise the first stroke comes out different from the last. It is applied in thin coats.

Use and weathering without a needless loss of gloss

• Ideal for piping, boilers, gearing, decorative fittings and accessories in the steampunk style.
• A metallic shade belongs at the end of painting; a metal coat is harder to mask and to spray over.
• A wash catches in the fine texture of a surface on a matte paint, but not on a smooth metallic area, where it runs off and settles unevenly.
• Lead the shading in a targeted way, therefore, into the engraved lines and take the excess off immediately.
• Do greenish verdigris only as a separate step; flowing over the whole surface suppresses the sheen of the copper.
