The second Belgian volume moves from jets to helicopters: three grays of modern fighters, the two shades of the search and rescue Sea King and the colors of the NH90.
Responsibility details are not available.
While volume one aims at the jet veterans, this one covers what Belgium operates today or operated until recently. The eight bottles fall into three groups by type of equipment.
The first three are gray and belong to the F-16AM fighter and the two-seat BM. Light Ghost Grey (FS36375) is the color of the lower surfaces, Gunship Grey (FS36118) of the upper ones, and Grey (FS36270) fills in the upper and side areas in the three-color finish. The first two of those shades are also worn by the Alpha Jet trainer.
The second group covers the Westland Sea King Mk.48 search and rescue helicopters. Their overall camouflage is made up of BS Olive Green to BS381C:220 and BS Light Stone to BS381C:361; it covers the fuselage top and bottom with no dividing line. With them goes International Orange, an approximate match for the prominent stripes and markings carried by both the Sea Kings and the 1B version of the Alpha Jet.
The last pair aims at the NH90. The naval multirole transport version is entirely in Light Gull Grey (FS36440), while the tactical transport version and the light Agusta A109BA are overall Dark Green (FS34079).
The box therefore lets a fighter, a rescue helicopter and a light liaison machine stand side by side in one palette.
On the helicopters it pays to leave the orange stripes until last and mask them off, because the saturated tone comes through poorly over dark camouflage and usually needs a light undercoat.
