RLM 76 Lichtblau — Mr.Paint Acrylic Paint, Aqua Line (17 ml)

A modeling paint in a 17 ml dropper bottle. It belongs to the water-thinnable acrylic Aqua line by Slovak manufacturer Mr.Paint, which can be applied with a brush or an airbrush and thinned with the manufacturer's own acrylic thinner for this line, or with water. This is a modeling paint, not a kit or an accessory — it is used to paint a finished model.

Watch out for mixing up the lines. Mr.Paint is best known for its lacquer (nitro) line, which is thinned with lacquer thinner and behaves completely differently. This paint does not belong to it. The manufacturer runs the same shade names in both lines at once, and on top of that the numbering between them does not match — always go by the line designation, not the number in the name.

Two different RLM 76 — and why

Mr.Paint makes two paints labeled RLM 76. This is deliberate, not a mistake — it is the point of both products. RLM 76 was the light color of the lower surfaces of later German aircraft (roughly from 1941), a companion to the upper surfaces RLM 74 and RLM 75. In practice, though, the shade was not uniform: due to different paint manufacturers, different batches, and later substitute raw materials, noticeably different variants have survived. Today, the main distinction is between Lichtblau — a light blue tone, which is the one offered here — and Blaugrün, shifted toward blue-green to turquoise. Other interpretations also exist. No variant is the correct one: the deciding factor is the documentation for a specific aircraft or the kit's instructions. If you need a greener tone, the Blaugrün variant is available separately.

Use

• Lower surfaces and sides of German aircraft from the later war years, a companion to RLM 74 and RLM 75.
• Airbrush and brush; thinned with acrylic thinner from the Aqua line or with water.
• Shake the bottle thoroughly before working and apply the paint in thin coats over a primer.
• Clean the airbrush and tools right after work, before the acrylic dries.
