U-STAR modeling nippers with a long edge serve for separating parts from a sprue even where short jaws cannot reach.
Responsibility details are not available.
Nippers are the first tool you pick up with a kit — parts are nipped off a sprue, never snapped. According to the name this version has a long edge and a multi-angle form, so it reaches even the sprue gates placed among the other parts, where a short tip will not fit.
Why nippers and not a knife
Do not nip right up against the part. Leave a short stub on the sprue, free the part and only then level the remainder with a file or a sanding stick — that way you avoid whitening the plastic and tearing material out. Hold the nippers so that the flat side of the jaws faces the part. With modeling nippers in general it holds that they are built for plastic: nipping wire, photo-etch or hard metal will chip the jaws unless the manufacturer expressly allows it. Clear the swarf off the edge after work and store the nippers closed.
The material of the jaws, the length of the tool and the recommended maximum section to be cut are not stated here.
