Unmown meadow, spring version — Model Scene

An unmown meadow is tall, overgrown grassy growth untouched by a mower or a scythe. In a model it represents untended land, a field margin, embankments, the edges of fields and areas nobody farms. The product is finished growth — it is laid down and glued, with nothing to assemble, nothing to paint and no need for an electrostatic applicator. The manufacturer is the Czech brand Model Scene.

Spring coloring

The spring version has a fresh, richly green tone with none of the yellow and brown admixtures that only appear in summer and autumn. It corresponds roughly to the period from April to June. This color has to be taken as a dating element: if you mix spring and autumn vegetation in one diorama, a viewer will spot it at once, even if they cannot say why. So choose one period and keep to it across all the growths you use, including trees, bushes and undergrowth.

Usage tips

• Tear the growth into irregular pieces — a straight edge always gives away that it is a part.
• Only the contrast with a mown area or a track creates the impression of farmed country.
• Put the tallest and densest grass by fences, field margins and the feet of structures, where nobody mows it.
• Fill the transitions with static grass or a fine scatter.
• Add small flowers or weeds, but sparingly — an excessively varied meadow looks artificial.
