Eduard Oval and oblong covers

A general-purpose photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard. It is not a kit but a modeling aid, a thin metal sheet with accurately etched oval and oblong openings of various sizes, which serves as a template for scribing and creating panel openings, access covers and lids on the surface of a model. The set has no set scale and comes into use on aircraft, vehicles and ships across the common modeling scales.

Use

• Lay the template on the surface of the model and trace the chosen oval or oblong shape with a scriber or the point of a knife.
• Use the openings as a guide for marking out or cutting access covers and lids.
• The template will also serve for tracing shapes while masking and spraying.
• Work with light strokes from the edge and hold the metal down with a finger or with adhesive tape so that it does not shift while you work.

Who it is for

It will be appreciated by more advanced modelers who scribe missing panel lines themselves, add access covers or repair detail after filling and sanding. Thanks to its general-purpose design it suits all types of models regardless of scale and will serve repeatedly on many builds. Covers and openings can be drawn accurately and symmetrically, which is otherwise difficult with shapes drawn by hand.
