A hollow square styrene profile with an outside dimension of 3.2 mm. A through hole for wire or cabling remains inside.
Responsibility details are not available.
A bar with a square outer outline three and two tenths of a millimeter on a side, hollow along its whole length. The dimension comes from one eighth of an inch, the measure in which real square hollow sections and square tubes are commonly made, so the result looks convincing on a model without any recalculating.
The cavity is the main advantage here. Through it runs the control wire that turns a turret or tips a bed, a conductor is threaded through it to an LED hidden in a mast, and a thinner profile is fitted inside it when a structure is meant to look telescopic. Outside, meanwhile, a sharp edge remains, which a solid bar with a drilled hole could never give.
The beams of trailers and flatbeds, the perimeter frames of containers, the uprights of scaffolding and platform wagons, the arms of small cranes, the posts of railings on industrial buildings, the booms of excavators. In larger scales it will also serve as chimney shafts, guide rails or the frame of a display base. Short offcuts will serve as feet under machines or as spacer posts between a floor and a platform.
Mark a square cut on all four walls and lead the knife gradually around, and only then snap the profile off. A drop of thin liquid cement applied with a brush into the joint, where capillary action will draw it in by itself, is enough to glue it. Any excess seeps inside and needlessly softens the wall. Finally take a sanding sponge to the sharp corners, otherwise the paint will slide off them while spraying and reveal the white plastic underneath.
