An AK Interactive modeling paint from the Real Colors range in the RAF Extra Dark Sea Grey shade to the British BS 381C standard, reference number 640. A 17 ml bottle.
Responsibility details are not available.
Extra Dark Sea Grey is the very dark gray of the Royal Air Force, listed in the British BS 381C standard under reference number 640. It is the darker of the pair of shades used to camouflage the upper surfaces of machines flying over the sea, the other half being a gray with a green cast. It was worn by Coastal Command aircraft and by carrier-based machines, and work continued with it in the postwar years.
The shade is the basis for British maritime and coastal aircraft and suits anywhere a genuinely deep dark gray with no shift toward blue is needed. Because it is standardized, it goes together with other shades listed under BS numbers and a whole model can be matched to it. Lighter British grays are available in the same range, so it is easy to tell this tone apart from similar shades.
The bottle has to be stirred thoroughly before use, because the pigment settles at the bottom. The paint is applied in several thin coats onto a degreased, dust-free surface, ideally over a primer that unifies the absorbency of plastic, filler and accessories. Thinning, spraying pressure and tool cleaning follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging; use the thinner recommended for this range. It is worth coating dark surfaces with gloss varnish before decals, so that no matte edges are left under them.
The paint alone is supplied, in a bottle of 17 ml. Thinner, primer, final varnish and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
