Real Colors RC972 RAF Light Aircraft Grey, 17 ml

An acrylic modeling paint from the Real Colors range by AK Interactive, listed under the manufacturer's part number RC972. The bottle holds 17 ml. It is a light gray whose name refers to the British color standard BS 381C, in which the shade is listed under the number 627.

Where you will use the shade

In British aviation schemes the light gray belongs to the undersides and to the overall finishes of trainers, that is wherever the aircraft has to blend into the background against the sky. It serves outside British subjects too: as a light tone for grading other grays, as a base for subtle panel highlighting and as the color of small parts that should not draw attention on the model.

How to work with the paint

• Stir the contents thoroughly before you take any out, the pigment settles to the bottom and without stirring the shade is off.
• Apply in several thin coats and let them dry in between, because one heavy coat floods the engraved surface detail.
• Light grays shift toward cool over a dark base, so lay them over a light primer.
• For thinning and for cleaning use the thinner intended for the Real Colors range; the ratio is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
• Try the shade out on a piece of scrap plastic first, not straight on the model.
• Close the bottle carefully after work, paint left open thickens.

Storage and packaging

Store the paint in a closed bottle away from heat and frost. Thickened paint can be thinned down, but check the resulting tone on a test sample.

The package contains one bottle of paint with a volume of 17 ml. Thinner, brushes, an airbrush and the model are not included, unless stated otherwise.
